Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Foundation

The Lal Bahadur Shastri memorial Foundation was established in 1986, to commemorate the memory of the late Prime Minister of India. Lal Bahadur Shastri was a great patriot and a staunch nationalist. He was not just a great personality or a great individual but an institution in himself. His ideals of simple living and high thinking endeared him to the people and his remarkable qualities of leadership gave them hope.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was a man of the masses. He had a deep-rooted concern for the upliftment of the people of India especially the farmers and the rural poor. He believed the real industry for the rural areas was agricultural and every effort should be made to develop it. He also took a keen interest ion Khadi and Village industries and had a vision of setting up a vast network of processing industries in the village.

His leadership skills blossomed when he led the country to victory in the 1965 war against Pakistan. He gave the nation a soul-stirring slogan ‘Jai Jawan – Jai Kisan’. He gave the country a new dynamism, a new impetus and a new hope.

The foundation embodies in its objectives his cherished dream of improving the fabric of life of the common man, thereby contributing to the strength  and stability of the nation.
